About Struble Manufacturing Company
Glenn Struble Manufacturing Company was founded in 1974 by Glenn Struble, a Mechanical Engineer with a love for fly-fishing and commitment to excellence. Struble’s designs and quality quickly became, and continue to be, the industry standard around the globe. The business was first housed in Glenn’s garage at his home in Roseburg, Oregon. The company quickly grew and eventually moved to its current location, a 12,000 square –foot building in Sutherlin, Oregon.
Glenn Struble passed away in 1993, leaving a legacy which we are dedicated to preserving. His unwavering commitment to excellence in design, quality, and performance remains our central objective. Because of this, Struble Manufacturing Company continues to be recognized as the industry’s leader in product quality and customer service. As always, all Struble products are made by our own craftsmen in Oregon using only the very highest quality materials.
Glen’s wife, Juanita, continued the company’s proud history of producing precision fly-fishing products until 2005 when the company was purchased by Jeffrey Pentecost, a Montana native and physician with a life-long love for fly fishing and a passion for innovation. His personal standards for quality, integrity, and service match Struble’s long-standing practice of delivering only the finest.
Struble expanded its operations in the fall of 2006 to include a business office and shipping department in Canby, Oregon near Portland. Our production plant still operates in Sutherlin, Oregon, where the machinists and skilled craftsmen trained by Glenn Struble continue the 3-decade tradition of excellence.
Achieving excellence through our constant pursuit of perfection
Jim Williams (Just Reels, USA) – “The Shilton Reel performed flawlessly. I really believe this reel is in the class of the top two American fly reels.”
Richard Schumann (Professional guide, South Africa) – “From bones to billfish, Shilton is my reel of choice.”
Graeme Field (Professional Guide, South Africa) - “ I fished exclusively with the SL7 Shilton reel on a 13 weight rod, and successfully landed a number of big GT's including a fish of close on 50 lbs and the GT of my life - a monster that was calculated to be approximately 115 lbs. No greater pressure and no bigger test exists for a reel than to tackle a fish of that size on the flats, and I was able to crank down the drag and turn the fish at nearly 200 meters away - on a 30lb class tippet! The fight lasted nearly 20 minutes and the reel was super smooth the whole time. I even had to jump in after the fish and fight it with the reel underwater, and even then it still performed perfectly.”
